Sonja Tanner is an assistant professor of philosophy in the Philosophy Department and currently the director of the Classics program. Her area of specialization lies in ancient Greek philosophy, and her research interests include the intersection of philosophy and poetry in Plato and other ancient thinkers, the role of imagination, and the development of these ideas in the history of philosophy. Courses she teaches include the history of philosophy sequence from the Presocratics through Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy, as well as topical courses such as Greek and Roman Mythology and Women in Classical Antiquity.
